Do I have to have a citation to make an interlibrary loan request?

Answer

No, citations are not mandatory.

If you order using our online catalog (using the "request item through interlibrary loan" button), it automatically sends the ILL librarian a citation.

If you order using the online ILL form, books do not need citations ... just the title and author.  For articles, list as much information as you know or provide a permalink to the information.  The ILL librarian will check the order with you before it is placed.

Note, that most of our databases have citation generators.  You may use any format, although we prefer the APA format.  A citation does make the process go quicker.
