Do you have genealogy materials?

Answer

Special Collections holds an extensive collection of published and privately printed genealogy books on regional families, especially those associated with the Church of the Brethren.  The books are listed in the library’s catalog, searchable here: https://libguides.bridgewater.edu/ForrerLearningCommons

Special Collections books are available for research use by appointment in the Wampler Reading Room.  The Special Collections staff make and send limited copies of the materials as copyright laws and time allow.

In addition to the genealogy research library, Special Collections holds topical files, bibles, artifacts, and manuscripts related to some families.  Ask the Special Collections Librarian for assistance.

Finally, Special Collections holds the papers of several genealogists.  These include Elsworth Kyger, Agnes Kline, and Nettie Senger.  In addition, some historic people whose papers are in Special Collections were also genealogists, and genealogical material is included in their papers.  Those include BC Presidents John S. Flory and Paul H. Bowman.  The materials are available by appointment for use in Special Collections. The Special Collections staff make and send limited copies of the materials as copyright laws and time allow.
