Special Collections holds a set of originals and copies of regional documents and notes including some emancipation records. These were likely used by Professor C. E. May in his book Life Under Four Flags In the North River Basin of Virginia.

The compiled 1850 Rockingham County, Virginia: free population census, slave census, mortality schedule, social statistics is available in Special Collections by appointment. Email Stephanie at sgardner@bridgewater.edu to set up an appointment.
