Why is tutoring group-oriented?

Answer

The purpose of group tutoring is to help students learn how to learn the material. That is accomplished over the course of the semester through twice a week sessions with a group of 2-5 tutees.

In those sessions, tutors and students utilize peer-to-peer learning in order to share experiences and learn from one another to build self-confidence and develop study skills. Asking questions, group discussion, and practice problems are all encouraged as a part of active participation in group tutoring.
